Position Objective:

We are seeking a System & Database administrators, who will design, write and take care of computer database systems so that the right person can get the right information at the right time.

As the sysadmin, you will ensure the computer systems run smoothly, particularly when multiple users access the system at the same time & ensures the company’s website stays online and is secure from outside threats.

Work with database software to find ways to store, organise and manage data. Iidentify user needs, set up computer databases and test systems ensuring that they perform as they should. Data integrity, backup, security and troubleshooting are critical parts of the System & DB administrator's job.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

• Keep databases up to date
• Design maintenance procedures and putting them into operation
• Ensure that databases meet user requirements
• Liaise with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project managers and other technical staff
• Manage database security/integrity and back-up procedures
• Implement security measures
• Define objectives through consultation with staff at all levels
• Write reports, documentation and operating manuals
• Test and modify databases to ensure that they operate reliably helps with database design and development
• Managing virtual machines in the data center and the cloud
• Evaluating system performance and making recommendations for upgrades
• Maintaining security through updates, patches, and proper permissions
• Monitoring systems to spot potential trouble particularly when multiple users access the system at the same time.
• Manage database access & ensure that company’s website is up and secure from outside threats

Qualification, Experience & Skill Requirements

• BSc/BEng (math physics, computer science, EE, e.t.c
• 3+ years of experience in systems and database administration.
• Familiarization with the Linux and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
• Familiarity with database queries
• Knowledge of database design and theories
• Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialist to set up, maintain and monitor data networks
• Knowledge and experience of database management systems such as Oracle, IBM DB2 or MySQL and query languages such as SQL, PL/SQ/PSM is essential.
• Create cleanup processes as requested by the development staff
• Investigate and resolve technical matters of significance within databases by analyzing and researching possible causes and making appropriate corrections to ensure stake holder satisfaction
• Experience with server installation and maintenance
• Familiarity with database management best practices
• Knowledge of IT security best practices
• Experience with a variety of computer information systems
• Excellent attention to detail
• Problem-solving and critical thinking
• Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms
• Good multitasking abilities

Certifications Required

• Azure cloud certifications (if not up to date, the ability to test in the first 90 days)
